CEI One is an iPhone and Mac app for your Romanian electronic identity card (eID). You can read the data on your eID, create a proof of address, sign PDFs and verify signatures, right on your own device.
Note
CEI One is an independent app. It is not an official government app.
What you can do
- Read the data on your eID. On iPhone, over NFC, from Read your eID. On Mac, with a card reader, from My eID.
- Create a proof of address. Proof of address gives you a PDF with the details and address read from your eID. You can also create an identity report.
- Sign PDFs with the electronic signature on your eID, from Sign PDF.
- Verify the signatures in a PDF. On iPhone, from Verify signature. On Mac, from Analyze PDF. You don’t need your eID to verify.
- Keep your documents in a local library. On iPhone, in Local history. On Mac, in Documents.
- Scan paper documents, on iPhone only, from Scan. You can sign them by hand or electronically.
- Change your PINs, on Mac only, from PIN codes.
- Sign several PDFs at once, up to 20, entering your codes only once.
- Lock the app with Face ID, Touch ID, your passcode or your Mac password, and choose to remember a card’s CAN.
- Open CEI One quickly on iPhone on the screen you need, from Siri, Spotlight, Shortcuts, a widget or Control Center.
- Sign and verify PDFs straight from Finder.
What stays on your device
- You don’t need an account.
- Reading the eID, processing PDFs and signing with the card all happen locally. Your eID data and documents are never uploaded to a CEI One server.
- PINs are used only for the current session and are never saved.
- On iPhone, the data read from your eID is not kept after the session unless you save an identity report.
- iCloud sync is optional and turned off by default.
- The app has no ads, trackers or analytics.
Signing needs an internet connection for the timestamp and for the certificates’ validation data. The timestamp service receives only the cryptographic fingerprint of the signature, never the content of your PDF. You’ll find the details in Privacy and security.
